Make a rich, comforting pasta dish with garlic and Parmesan cheese in one pot in under 20 minutes for a simple weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz linguine or angel hair pasta
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Place the pasta, broth, minced garlic, and butter into a large pot or Dutch oven.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir frequently to prevent the pasta from sticking to the bottom.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer uncovered for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pasta is cooked al dente and most of the liquid has been absorbed, stirring often.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  5. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of reserved broth or milk until you reach your desired consistency.
  6. Serve immediately with extra grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use chicken broth instead of vegetable broth.
  • You can add cooked, shredded chicken breast during the final step for a heartier meal.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese; pre-shredded cheese does not melt as smoothly into the sauce.
