Make this festive Peppermint Espresso Martini, a perfect holiday cocktail that blends rich espresso, coffee liqueur, and cool peppermint flavor. It is simple to mix for your next winter gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Freshly Brewed Espresso, cooled
  • 0.5 oz Coffee Liqueur (like Kahlua)
  • 0.5 oz Cream Liqueur (like Bailey’s Irish Cream)
  • 0.25 oz Peppermint Schnapps
  • Ice
  • For Rim (Optional): Crushed candy canes or chocolate syrup and sugar
  • For Garnish: 3 coffee beans or a small candy cane

Instructions

  1. Prepare your glass: If you want a rim, run a lime wedge around the rim of your martini glass. Dip the rim into crushed candy canes or a mixture of sugar and cocoa powder. Set the glass aside.
  2. Combine ingredients: Add the vodka, cooled espresso, coffee liqueur, cream liqueur, and peppermint schnapps to a cocktail shaker.
  3. Add ice: Fill the shaker two-thirds full with ice.
  4. Shake well: Close the shaker tightly and shake hard for about 15 to 20 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold. This creates the signature foam.
  5. Strain and serve: Double strain the mixture into your prepared martini glass.
  6. Garnish: Place three coffee beans on top of the foam or add a small candy cane to the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a Peppermint Mocha Martini variation, add 0.25 oz of chocolate syrup to the shaker before mixing.
  • If you do not have peppermint schnapps, you can substitute it with a few drops of high-quality peppermint extract, adjusting to taste.
  • Make sure your espresso is fully cooled before mixing; hot liquid will melt the ice too quickly and prevent good foam formation.
