Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ball pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to the highest setting, ideally with a pizza stone or steel inside for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Stretch your pizza dough into your desired shape on a lightly floured surface or parchment paper.
  3. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  4. Arrange the fresh mozzarella slices over the sauce.
  5. Drizzle with a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone or steel.
  7. Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, ensure your oven and baking surface are very hot.
  • Use good quality canned San Marzano tomatoes for the sauce for the best flavor.
  • Don’t overload the pizza with toppings to ensure even cooking.
