Ingredients
Scale
1 ball pizza dough
1/2 cup tomato sauce
4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
Fresh basil leaves
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper
Instructions
Preheat your oven to the highest setting, ideally with a pizza stone or steel inside for at least 30 minutes.
Stretch your pizza dough into your desired shape on a lightly floured surface or parchment paper.
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
Arrange the fresh mozzarella slices over the sauce.
Drizzle with a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone or steel.
Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve immediately.
Notes
For a crispier crust, ensure your oven and baking surface are very hot.
Use good quality canned San Marzano tomatoes for the sauce for the best flavor.
Don’t overload the pizza with toppings to ensure even cooking.
