Create fun and spooky ghost-shaped hash browns for a quick and festive Halloween breakfast that kids will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (28 ounce) package frozen shredded hash browns
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sliced black olives, or ketchup for eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, toss the frozen hash browns with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Shape the hash browns into ghost or tombstone forms on a baking sheet or in your air fryer basket. You can make them tall and thin for ghosts or rectangular for tombstones.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes in the oven, or air fry for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Once cooked, use small pieces of black olives or dots of ketchup to create eyes on your hash brown ghosts.
  6. Serve immediately for a fun Halloween morning breakfast.

Notes

  • For tombstone shapes, simply press the hash browns into a rectangular form.
  • You can also use small pieces of pimento-stuffed olives for the eyes.
  • If you don’t have olive oil, you can use another neutral cooking oil.
