A simple, sweet, and smoky honey barbecue sauce recipe perfect for grilling.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan.
  2. Stir well to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  4. Reduce heat to low and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
  6. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • This sauce is great for ribs, chicken wings, pulled pork, and as a dipping sauce.
  • Adjust honey for sweetness and cayenne for heat to your preference.
  • For a smokier flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke.
