Make this simple, creamy, and zesty black bean dip in just five minutes. It is vegan, healthy, and perfect for parties or game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)

Instructions

  1. Place the rinsed and drained black beans, cilantro, lime juice, garlic, olive oil, cumin, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using) into a food processor.
  2. Process the ingredients until the mixture is mostly smooth. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. For a creamier texture, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water while processing until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Taste the dip and adjust salt or lime juice as necessary.
  5. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • For a hotter dip, increase the cayenne pepper or add a small amount of chopped jalapeño during processing.
  • If you do not have a food processor, you can mash the beans well with a fork and then vigorously whisk in the remaining ingredients until combined. The texture will be less smooth.
  • This dip is excellent served cold or at room temperature.
