Welcome! If you want the softest, most decadent cinnamon rolls without hours of work, this recipe is for you. We use a simple hack to transform canned rolls into melt-in-your-mouth treats using heavy cream for an unbelievably moist texture. Perfect for weekend brunch or holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (about 340 g) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing (Pillsbury Grands style recommended)
  • 120 ml heavy cream (heavy whipping cream)
  • 56 g unsalted butter, melted
  • 30 g dark brown sugar
  • Extra icing that came with the rolls

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the canned cinnamon roll packaging, usually around 375°F (190°C).
  2. Arrange the unbaked cinnamon rolls in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Do not separate them too much; let them touch slightly.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, dark brown sugar, and heavy cream until the sugar begins to dissolve slightly.
  4. Pour this heavy cream mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls, ensuring the liquid seeps down between the rolls.
  5. Bake according to the package directions, usually 20 to 25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through. Watch carefully to prevent burning the edges.
  6. Remove the dish from the oven. Immediately spread the included icing over the hot rolls. The heat will help the icing melt and spread evenly.
  7. Let the rolls cool for about 5 to 10 minutes before serving warm. This allows the cream to settle and makes them extra gooey.

Notes

  • For an even richer, cream cheese style topping, mix the provided icing with 2 tablespoons of softened cream cheese before spreading.
  • To achieve the viral ‘overflow’ look, ensure your rolls are close together in the pan so they rise up against each other during baking.
  • This method works best for making cinnamon rolls extra moist; do not skip the heavy cream soak.
