Ingredients
Scale
4 ripe pears (Bosc or Anjou recommended)
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter, melted (optional, for richness)
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans (optional, for crunch)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Wash the pears and slice them in half lengthwise. Use a spoon to scoop out the core and seeds from each half.
Place the pear halves cut-side up in a baking dish.
In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg. If using, add the melted butter and mix well.
Spoon the maple-cinnamon mixture evenly over the cut surfaces of the pears.
If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top of each pear half.
Pour about 1/4 inch of water into the bottom of the baking dish. This helps create steam and keeps the pears moist.
Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork. Baking time will vary depending on the ripeness and size of your pears.
Serve warm.
Notes
Serve with a dollop of Greek yogurt, a sprinkle of granola, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a more decadent treat.
For a gluten-free dessert, ensure your granola topping is certified gluten-free.
This recipe is naturally sweetened by the pears and maple syrup, making it a healthy dessert option.
