A simple and naturally sweet fruit dessert featuring tender baked pears with warm cinnamon and maple flavors. Perfect for a healthy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe pears (Bosc or Anjou recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (optional, for richness)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans (optional, for crunch)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash the pears and slice them in half lengthwise. Use a spoon to scoop out the core and seeds from each half.
  3. Place the pear halves cut-side up in a baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg. If using, add the melted butter and mix well.
  5. Spoon the maple-cinnamon mixture evenly over the cut surfaces of the pears.
  6. If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top of each pear half.
  7. Pour about 1/4 inch of water into the bottom of the baking dish. This helps create steam and keeps the pears moist.
  8. Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork. Baking time will vary depending on the ripeness and size of your pears.
  9. Serve warm.
