A simple and comforting bread pudding recipe perfect for using leftover bread, featuring warm cinnamon and a rich custard.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups stale bread, cubed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: Caramel sauce or vanilla sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange the cubed bread in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to ensure all pieces are moistened. Let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden brown on top. A knife inserted near the center should come out clean.
  6. Let the bread pudding cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with your favorite sauce.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use a mix of milk and heavy cream.
  • If your bread is not stale, you can toast the cubes lightly in the oven before using.
  • This bread pudding can be made ahead and reheated.
