A quick and easy one-pan pasta dish with smoked sausage and a creamy cheese sauce, perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound kielbasa sausage, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 12 ounces pasta (like penne or rotini)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add kielbasa and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove kielbasa from skillet and set aside.
  2. Add onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add pasta and stir. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until pasta is al dente, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in heavy cream, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Cook, stirring, until cheese is melted and sauce is creamy.
  5. Return the cooked kielbasa to the skillet. Stir to combine and heat through.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
  • You can substitute smoked sausage for kielbasa if desired.
  • This recipe works well with most short pasta shapes.
