A warm, bubbling banana dessert with a buttery, golden topping, perfect for potlucks and family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour the melted butter into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together 3/4 cup of the granulated sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish.
  6. Arrange the sliced bananas over the batter.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup granulated sugar and the chopped pecans (if using) over the bananas.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • This cobbler can be assembled up to 2 hours ahead of baking. Cover and refrigerate.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave.
